Big game fishing madeira
Madeira Island is already considered one of the best worldwide destinations for Big Game Fishing and we’ll explain why!
Every year, the island is one of several places that hosts the "Blue Marlin World Fishing Championship" and in 1995, 1996 and 1997 the first prize was awarded here.
Jess Miller, Stewart Campbell and Mike Day won the first prize individually. There was a year that 100 "Blue Marlins" were marked ("Tag & Release") during this event and in that same year Madeira was considered one of the best places ever in the world for the Big Game Fishing.
A great asset that we have to offer to this sport is the fact that the ocean has 1000 meters depth all along the coast. Thus, it is possible to be fishing within 10 minutes... Some people say - tongue in cheek - that we can throw the line as soon as the boat leaves the harbour.
The migratory routes used throughout the year provide the passage for different species and we can easily find fish over 300kg. Among the various species, we have the "Blue Marlin", the "White Marlin", Tuna "Big Eye" and the Albacore, Dorado and the "Wahoo".
If the clear waters full of fish, the amazing climate and the 1000 meter depths along the Island’s coast are not enough to convince you, Madeira has much more to offer! 3, 4 and 5 stars hotels suitable for any budget, Spas, unique landscapes, 2 golf courses, fine restaurants, activities related to nature and one of the best wines in the world – The Madeira Wine - are reasons that will certainly leave you enchanted by one of the most beautiful places in the world.
